Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and boasts the title of the world's most northern city. There are hundreds of hotels in this tourist hotspot and they are accompanied by a host of bars that prove popular with locals and visitors alike. The city's hotels are found on the pretty coastline that is made up from coves, islands, straits and jagged peninsulas and there is also a large choice of accommodation in the city center. There are ample transportation options, with buses and taxis widely available. The Ellioaa River offers some of the world's best salmon fishing and draws interested fisherman from all over, while Mt Esja is equally attractive to climbers. Bars and clubs are a main feature of Reykjavik and they are mainly situated on Laugavegur and the surrounding streets. The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa close to the city and it makes for a memorable daytrip. Laugardalslaug has a swimming pool available to everyone and Laugavegur is where the main shopping experiences can be found. Hotels are dotted throughout the city, with the most choice in the heart of the city. Hotels during the peak season of June to August can get booked up so book early to avoid disappointment. If you are looking for a good deal then it is best to book early whatever time of year you intend to visit.
