The best months for visiting the Kissimmee area are November through January, May and September. These are the months with low volume of visitors, and best hotel and air deals. The key attractions in the greater Kissimmee area of course include Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. However, if you need a break from the crowds, or just want to visit some local attractions, the following are well worth a visit.For the history buff, especially military history, spending some time at the Museum of Military History is in order. For a mere $7 you can examine over 50,000 historic military items on display.
If you want to stroll in a relaxing setting, and learn something about the history of the United States, then visit the Osceola County Pioneer Village. Like a few others in the U.S. this is a re-creation of a historic village from the 1800’s. You can choose to stroll yourself, or take a 45 minute guided tour. For $5 per person, it’s quite a deal.
Having fun
If you’ve always dreamed of catching the “perfect wave” then it’s time to try. You can visit Fantasy Surf where you get a lesson or two on a real surfboard in a wave pool. Not only do you get to cool off, but also when asked what you did on your vacation, you can say, “Caught a wave or two”.Spend some time in “Old Town” where you and the kids can enjoy the Windstorm Roller Coaster, and other rides. If Mom isn’t into the rides, she can enjoy the day browsing through over 75 specialty stores. And while there, you just have to go to Legends Hauntings. This “Fun House” is actually in Ashton & Sons Undertakers, which was in business ever since 1889 until recently becoming an attraction. Be ready to meet some of the “deceased clients” from the past when you least expect to.
And if that didn’t remove a layer or two of your skin when you jumped out of it, there’s another adventure awaiting you.
For an outdoor adventure, why not drive to Cypress Lake and take a Airboat ride? Fly around the lake looking for crocks! It’s an adventure for Dad and son or daughter, with stories that will last a lifetime.

If looking for premium designer outfits, shoes and more, then head to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores, Orlando Premium Outlets and or International Drive. These shops offer top of the line shopping at discount prices.If calmer boutique shopping has your fancy, then maybe a visit to Town Center and the tree lined shops on the street offering specialty shops with charm.
Lastly there’s Old Town, which is just what it sounds like, the old Kissimmee, where you can experience a collection of old specialty shops, along with activities for the whole family.
